The Perfect Winter Layers

Winters in New York aren’t for the faint of heart. There are always layers, layers and more layers. Luckily with shirt jackets (aka shackets) being one of the biggest trends again this season, there are always enough layers to go around. I am super picky with my shirt jackets though- many are loud and intense for my faint little heart- so when I’m lucky enough to find a neutral gem- I snag it!

Nordstrom always has the staple pieces I am looking for to add to my capsule wardrobe. If I am buying a shirt jacket, I like to see that it is well-made and neutral. I love classic styles that will go from season to season. Nordstrom brands like Caslon and Treasure and Bond always have amazing quality in their pieces which is something I really value when needing longevity for a capsule.

This shirt jacket was an instant purchase because of this soft neutral color pattern. Buffalo plaid can be a harsher pattern but get the colorway right and you’re smooth sailing. This mix of cream and taupe is such a win for my wardrobe!

This shirt jackets layers beautifully with jeans or leggings. It is not as heavy as some others I have tried but it is just as soft. I love it here with these Nike sneakers– they are my favorite sneakers right now!
