I should start off by saying I am sensitive to everything I put on and in my body. I’ve often said I could be a side-effect tester because if there is one to be had- I get it. Being me is hard. As I’ve gotten older I’ve started to become much more mindful of what chemicals I’m surrounded with and I’ve taken action to rid myself and my home of them as much as I can. I was the girl who would buy candles in bulk. There is nothing I love more than having a cozy night at home and that usually includes candles that smell amazing. As I’ve gotten older though, my allergies have gotten out of control. Perfumes and scents can trigger a headache pretty quickly if I’m not careful. My eyes were so red and swollen at one point I could barely see straight.
I noticed it started happening most after my cleaning lady came. I assumed it was just the dust being kicked up, but when I went to acupuncture- it wasn’t dust that was showing – it was chemicals.
Growing up my dad and my grandma were always giving me eucalyptus oil when I had a cold. A few years ago I found myself buying some since I had gotten a cold I just couldn’t quit. And so began my use. Essential oils are nothing new, and honestly, that makes me love them more. As I researched more and more I couldn’t believe that there were effective products available made from pure materials and not synthetic chemicals.
I chose Young Living Essential Oils not for their Seed to Seal approach but because the bottles and packaging is really pretty. Makes sense no? Good decision. Truth be told though, I noticed so much more effectiveness once I switched to these oils rather than the ones I was buying at the supermarket or off of Amazon. Young Living also has a few blends I swear by, along with their entire Thieves line, which has been a game changer for this teacher.
So if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed with essential oils, this post is to help you at least know where to start.
Top Three Things You Should Get If Starting With Essential Oils
A word about joining an essential oils team: be sure to join a team that is filled with support and knowledge. This should be true for ANY multi-level marketing product you buy. These types of organizations are usually set up because there is education involved, so be sure to sign up with people who you feel will support you journey and have the knowledge you may need along the way. I’ve seen the difference in being a part of the right- and the wrong team. I honestly had a hard time narrowing it down, but this is meant to be a starting point, so here we go.
ONE | An Essential Oil Starter Kit
Starter Kit with the Desert Mist Diffuser– I LOVE this starter kit. I actually bought two. If you’re tight on pennies, I’m of the mind that you could get the Young Living Starter kit and probably be good for a LONG time. It’s a great investment. The oils included are THE BEST. If you want me to do a post on the starter kit specifically, you can let me know.
That said, if you are thinking of getting toxins out of your home more permanently, definitely consider joining Essential Rewards. It’s been so easy to make a $50 swap for me. I don’t shop at Target anymore, and I’m not buying things like Tums and DayQuil Sinus. Now I buy my dish soap, laundry detergent and my multi-purpose cleaner all from Young Living and it’s made such a difference. My eyes are no longer red and puffy and there is no chemical smell in the house after my cleaning ladies come.
TWO | An Oil Blend That Helps You Feel Better When You’re Sick
Thieves Blend & The Cleaning Kit- This little gem helps me with my paranoia of getting sick. I diffuse this often. There’s a whole kit of household products based on this blend depending on how natural you want to go in your life.
THREE | A Roller
Deep Relief Roller– I have to tell you that this roller it’s just the greatest thing. I use it for headaches, muscle aches, congestion and the list goes on. I’ve bought it three times so far.
I plan to share more of my wellness journey along with you and look forward to learning and growing together! Let me know what else you’d like to see.
