I wrote some of this a while back but this week, I’ve found myself turning to this line of thinking more than once. I’ve been struggling lately figuring out who my people are- since life has way of making things temporary. Friendships, connections and relationships- all fall into seasons of life. Not everyone who enters into our lives are meant to stay.
My friendships have been changing… and then I’ve been trying to figure out how much of being me in the blogging world could isolate me from the norm. And then, in turn, I’m trying to figure out how much I give a damn.
I had to bring myself back to this place again as I was giving a friend of mine some advice this weekend. She isn’t being seen for the amazing person she is by those around her- and that type of environment can erode our self-worth. I had to remind her that those people who don’t see her worth- aren’t her people.
This drives most of what I do and how freeing it is to believe it! I want you to remember that people may not understand you- and those people aren’t your people.
Life is full of moments where we need to channel our bravery- we need to be uncomfortable. Sometimes, being ourselves is one of the most courageous things we can do.
Every time we play the Question of the Day game on IG- I am reminded that you are my people. This community is such a blessing to me and I am often humbled by how lucky I am to have all of you who celebrate me just being me. YOU DESERVE THAT TOO. Please know that I am here giving you permission to be exactly who you are. And I am cheering you on as you do it!
THANK YOU for being my people- my tribe- and more importantly- for being brave enough to be you!
